Jazz for all Occasions…

I am available for private parties, weddings, night clubs, restaurants, and other kinds of gigs like these. I usually charge an hourly rate, but this depends of the type of gig and distance to be traveled. I have a car and keyboard, but I always prefer the sound of a real, live  acoustic piano.

I can be hired to play solo piano, duo (bass/piano), trio (bass/piano/drums), or as a quartet / quintet (bass/drums/piano + trumpet/saxophone).  I also enjoy working with vocalists – I can provide you with a fantastic male or female vocalist.

My repertoire consists mostly of jazz standards, Tin Pan Alley Songs (ie. Gershwin), and contemporary jazz (ie. Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter).  A typical set would include songs like: A Foggy Day, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Speak Low, I Love Paris, Long Ago and Far Away, and many others…

Chris was joined by a bassist for dancing after dinner. We wanted jazz and they delivered. I LOVED the music. Chris’s rendition of “the Nearness of You” — our 1st dance — was the best I’ve ever heard. They even played a tarantella for our best man. His bassist was excellent (approved even by my grandfather, who was a cellist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 20 years).- -A Chicago Bride
